Consign Your Curves

Consign Your Curves - 54 Elizabeth Street, Guelph, ON

Well it’s finally here!  Once you start seeing those Justin Timberlake memes, you know May is here and that means everyone’s favourite and LARGEST plus size consignment sale, Consign Your Curves is upon us!  I’m a proud seller at CYC and have been doing it since the very first one in 2013.  And in the sale’s seventh year, it has also opened up a new chapter with a brick and mortar location in CYC’s hometown of Guelph, Ontario, my hometown!

CYC was created by Carlie Roberts, a former plus size fashion blogger, after not being able to go to other consignment shops to purge her closet.  Frustrated with yet another plus size fashion exclusion, Carlie took it upon herself to have a pop up sale where other ladies like her could sell their plus size wares, purge their closets and building a community all at once.  2013’s sale had 13 racks, myself and Carlie included, and was held in a small family warehouse Carlie had access to.  Now the sale has grown to the largest one of it’s kind with 56 racks slated for the upcoming sale on Saturday, May 11th, at Evergreen Community Centre in Guelph.

The sale is huge, the racks are always full, and yet, the need for more was still there.  Carlie saw another plus size fashion gap that needed to be filled, a free standing shop, outside of the sale, that a plus size person could buy and sell at all year round.  So in November 2018, Carlie announced the pop up shop for Consign Your Curves.  But a pop up was soon becoming a staple for some, and shocker...the need grew!

Cut to April 2019, in a new location at 54 Elizabeth Street, Guelph, Carlie opened CYC in it’s new and not pop up home.  The store is beautiful and a labour of love for Carlie.  It’s a quaint little shop with racks filled with plus size clothing ranging from 1X to 5X and size 12 to 30.  It’s an inclusive place with bright change rooms and cute Instagramable moments.  While the CYC sale will continue annually, the physical CYC shop will be a constant place for people of all sizes to shop and sell their clothing.

While I’m sad to say that I am missing my first CYC sale in 7 years (I have a wedding that Saturday), I will be in-store to do a meet and greet and a pop up sale of my own closet in the store!  Join me Saturday, May 25th, from 12pm to 3pm, to shop my closet and the rest of the shop, with photo ops and a special appearance from my little fur ball, Wilbur!  I have been saving up all the goodies I would normally have at the sale, so you know it’s gonna be a full rack ladies!

I hope to see you all there!!!
